Motorcycle operator Heath M. Dyer, 40, of Bellefontaine, and his passenger Elizabeth A. Dyer, 39, of Bellefontaine, were transported by Bellefontaine EMS and Tri-Valley EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash Wednesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Dyer was operating an eastbound 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle about 5:50 p.m. on State Route 540 near County Road 25 when a deer crossed the road and collided with the front tire of the motorcycle.
Deputies said the impact caused both the operator and passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued to travel eastbound and then came to a rest on the south side of the roadway.
Damage was heavy to the motorcycle. Neither of the motorcycle occupants were wearing a helmet, according to the crash report. Deputies continue to investigate and no citations have yet been issued.
• Stephen R. Coy, 64, of Lakeview, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash about 8:20 p.m. in the village of DeGraff.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound 2015 Honda CR-V on south Koke Street when he swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway and went left of center into the southbound lane of traffic and struck an unoccupied 2006 Jeep Commander that was parked at 110 S. Koke St.
Damage was heavy to the CR-V and moderate to the Jeep, owned by Jarrett Kopus of DeGraff.
