Two Bellefontaine men appeared in Logan County Common Pleas Court in separate cases that involved drunk driving and fleeing from police officers.

Vincent Thomas, 38, was sentenced to three years in prison for failure to comply with the order of a police officer and OVI. Thomas was driving drunk and was involved in three separate crashes over the course of two hours Jan. 13.
Shortly before 7 p.m., he was driving in the 1000 block of north Main Street without his headlights on when his sport utility vehicle hit the driver’s side of Everett Patterson’s pickup truck.
The defendant continued at a high rate of speed as officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department converged on the area. He lost control turning from Williams Avenue onto Elm Street. The SUV skidded across and off the street four times going through several yards and striking Nehkya D. Lyburtus’ parked car at 428 N. Elm St.
Officers did not initiate a pursuit because of icy road conditions.
At Maple Avenue between Main and Detroit Street, he crashed into a parked pickup truck registered to Benjamin A. Manbeavers.
The SUV was disabled and he took off running.
Around 8:30 p.m., Thomas was arrested at his residence and was apparently intoxicated. He refused to provide take a breath test and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
- In the other case, Ryan Rose, 35, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the signal of a police officer and OVI.
He was charged Feb. 13 after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of U.S. 68 and County Road 113 saw him speeding at 7:45 p.m.
They attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and Rose turned east onto C.R. 113 before turning off his headlights and driving to a nearby property in an attempt to hide from deputies.
He was located and showed visible signs of impairment.
Sentencing was set for Aug. 25.
