Refinancing to save taxpayers $2.2M
Two new grants will help support existing efforts to teach good behaviors and character traits at Indian Lake Elementary School, the school’s co-principals told the Indian Lake Board of Education at the Tuesday evening meeting.
Funded by the State Support Team Region 6 office in Wapakoneta, the $3,000 Positive Behavior Intervention Support grant and the $1,500 Community and Family Engagement grant will help fund the Laker Zone initiative.
“The Laker Zone is already a schoolwide policy focusing on behavior and the PBIS really fit in with it, so we went ahead and applied,” Co-Principal Jeff Reprogle said before he and fellow co-principal Molly Hall showed a slideshow and motivational video on the subject.
If a student doesn’t know how to read or swim, instructors teach those skills; but students who don’t know how to behave are punished instead of being taught how to behave, Mr. Reprogle said.
