The fifth-seeded Pirates, ranked fifth in the latest state poll, boost their mark to 18-2 on the season. They take on seventh-seeded Franklin-Monroe (18-9) in the sectional final Tuesday at Houston High School.
“The girls started out a little slow, but had a huge third inning to open the game up,” said RHS head coach Andy Phelps. “I also thought Shelby Giles did a nice job in the pitching circle. She was focused and ended up with 10 strikeouts.”
