Zanesfield Petanque Club member Shannon Hodge played in the Mondial la Marseillaise in France on July 1. It is the largest triples tournament in the world. There was 4,544 teams with 13,632 players and is a single elimination tournament. Hodge teamed up with Bo Edwards (North Carolina) and Gina Dejoy (Florida). Their team won their first two games 13-12 and 13-9 before losing 9-13.
On July 3, the same team played in the 57th Derichebourg Women’s Grand Prix, which had 136 teams and is a pool play event of three games. Teams have to win two games to advance. Hodge’s team lost their first game, but won the next two and advanced. They lost their next game 13-6.
