Brittiny J. Swincher, 28, of 12039 Shannon Drive, Lakeview, was charged with theft, possession of criminal tools and received a probation violation following an incident Tuesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 8:40 p.m. to the Dollar General, 13797 N. State Route 235, Lakeview, on a shoplifting complaint.
Store employees reported observing Ms. Swincher acting suspiciously inside the business. Deputies report that the defendant had placed several items inside her coat pocket and inside her purse.
Deputies also located a box cutter in her coat pocket. Employees had observed several empty packages in the store, and the defendant allegedly had put some of those items inside packages for items in her cart.
She was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
No injuries reported in buggy, car crash
Diana Seiler, 65, of Lakeview, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead following a non-injury crash involving a car and horse-drawn buggy about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies report Ms. Seiler was operating a southbound car on State Route 235 just south of County Road 27 when she struck the rear of the southbound buggy, operated by Mary Schwartz, 35, of rural Bellefontaine.
The horse also did not sustain any injuries. Damage was heavy to the car and light to the buggy.
• Tabitha A. Hoffer, 38, of DeGraff, was cited for failure to yield the right of way following a crash in the village of DeGraff Tuesday morning.
Deputies report she was operating an eastbound car on Miami Street about 7:35 a.m. when she attempted to make a left turn onto Koke Street. She then struck a westbound sport utility vehicle operated by Erin Workman, 28, of Bellefontaine.
No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained light damage.
