Jessica M. Shoffner, 30, of 116 Grand Ave., Russells Point, was charged with a felony count of illegal conveyance of methamphetamine into a detention facility related to an incident Sunday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was arrested on a warrant about 7:20 p.m. at 617 High Ave., Russells Point, and was transported to the Logan County Jail.
While placing the defendant in the cruiser at the residence, deputies asked her if she had any illegal contraband on her person. She told them she did not, and she again told them she had no illegal contraband when arriving at the jail.
However, during a pat down search by corrections staff member, a small, white crystal-like substance was found in a small hidden pocket in her pants. She told staff that it was “meth,” stating that she didn’t know it was there.
Shoplifting complaint filed
Deputies responded about noon Tuesday to Dollar General, 6793 Lima St., Huntsville, in reference to a shoplifting complaint.
Deputies met with the store manager, who reported that the male suspect had been loitering in the store for more than two hours. During that time, he was observed placing merchandise in his pockets and also opening a package of lipstick and applying the lipstick to his fingernails.
The suspect then reportedly placed items on the check-out counter, and was confronted about items placed in his pockets. He denied having anything in his pockets and then fled from the store on foot.
The suspect could not be located after he ran from the store, and investigation continues.
