West Liberty-Salem’s track and field program is giving area athletes the chance to receive high-level instruction this week as the Tigers are hosting the Jones Elite Training camp at Tiger Stadium.
The camp includes athletes in grades 6-12 from WL-Salem, Benjamin Logan, Triad, Graham, Marysville, Northwestern and Miami East.
Camp coaches include USATF certified coaches Marissa Chew, James Daniels and the owner and founder of Jones Elite Training, Ralph Jones.
“We’re excited to provide local athletes the opportunity to improve their proficiency and gain confidence in their specific events, while learning from some of the best coaches in the country,” said WL-Salem girls head coach Ann Vogel, who recently led her team to a second Division III state championship this spring. “We hope to make this an annual event.”
Jones is now in private coaching after working at the collegiate level for 13 years. He is well regarded nationally for training track and field athletes as well as football players.
