Visiting Versailles overcame a slow start to beat West Liberty-Salem 54-43 in a non-league girls basketball game Tuesday night.
WL-S falls to 5-6 on the season. Versailles is now 4-5.
It was a good start for WL-S, which led 11-4 after one quarter.
However, Versailles heated up in the second quarter, outscoring the hosts 19-18 to cut the WL-S lead to six points (29-23) at halftime.
Versailles then used an 18-9 run in the third quarter to take a 41-38 lead.
In the final quarter, Versailles was able to pull away for the the 11-point win.
Chaley Wade led WL-S with 15 points. Bailey Poppe and Lillian Weaver had eight points each and Megan Hollar chipped in six points.
In the junior varsity game, WL-S won 31-21. Ava Johnson and Audrey Collins scored five points each for WL-S.
WL-S returns to action Thursday at home against Greenon.
