Carter Winter grew up listening to country legends on a juke box with his grandfather. He has mixed those early inspirations along with some contemporary influences to create a style that has earned him a spot as an-up-and-coming country music performer.

Winter, who was raised in Central Ohio, will entertain the crowd Friday night at the Logan County Fair.
“I am excited about coming to Bellefontaine and I am hoping to gain some new fans,” said Winter. “The audience can expect songs from all over the place. I like to walk that line between traditional and modern country.”
Country music with an edge of rock would be an appropriate way to describe Winter’s style.
“I listen to music of all genres,” he said. “I think that lends itself to the way I come out in my music.”
While he became a fan of music at an early age, Winter did not go through any formal musical training as a youth. He learned to play the guitar at the age of 17 and took an interest in writing songs.
“I learned the guitar and wrote a couple of songs, and things just kind of took off from there,” said Winter, 28.
