William O. Fox, 89, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at St. Rita’s Inpatient Hospice Unit in Lima.
Born on Saturday, Sept. 4, 1926, in Van Wert, he was a son of the late Marion O. and Philia Mae Poling Fox. On April 7, 1951, he married Patricia L. Schmenk who preceded him in death in 2005.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired carpenter millwright for the Local 372 and UAW Local 2075 General Dynamics.
Fishing, woodworking and spending time with his friends at Indian Lake were things he enjoyed in life.

He is survived by his three sons, Mark (Becky) Fox of Lima, Bruce Fox of Dayton and Brett (Margi) Fox of Canton, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Brian Shinabery, Christopher (Sonya) Fox, Jason Fox, Andy Fox, Cortney (Mitch) Hooks, Nick Fox, Amanda Fox, Lauren Fox, Connor Fox and Ian Fox; seven great-grandchildren; brother Terry (Judy) Fox of Van Wert; brother-in-law, James (Carol) Schmenk; and woodworking friend, Jim McConnell.
He also was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Fox; a daughter, Victoria Fox; and siblings, Jean Hooker, Bob Fox, Adelbert Fox and James Fox.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, 920 N. Cable Road, Lima.
A Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, in St. Gerard Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb Ave., Lima. Father David Ross officiates and interment is in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
