William A. “Dick” Hill, Sr., 78, of Lakeview, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 21, 2018, at home with his family by his side.
William was born Dec. 4, 1939, in Grayson, Ky., a son of the late Hazel Hill Cox. On June 21, 1958, he married Maryanne Pugh in Lima, and she preceded him in death Oct. 13, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Hill, and a daughter, Debbie Hill.
Dick is survived by four children, William (Kristi) Hill Sr. of Wapakoneta, Julia (Don) Strayer of Wilkesville and Canda Hill and Miranda Hill, both of Lakeview, nine grandchildren, Brian Hill, Lucas Hill, Angel (Jason) Champ, Cheyanne Miller, Jewel Peterman, Kole Gilliam, Kaci Hill, Kyle Poppe and Kelsi Poppe; seven great-grandchildren, Chase Champ, Mason Champ, Summer Champ, Evie Peterman, Hunter Peterman, Lilleigh Bryan and Aidan Lenard; a brother, James Hill of Lima; and a sister, Cheri (Rick) Lones of Jenera.
Dick was a 1957 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 45 years. Dick was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was a hunter and fisherman, who loved the outdoors and camping with his family. He enjoyed collecting guns and making his own fishing rods.
A gathering of remembrance is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview.
