West Jefferson’s girls basketball team handled host Triad from start to finish on Saturday to claim a 65-39 non-league win.
The Cardinals slide to 1-1 on the season.
“I don’t know if it was the fact that we had a tough overtime win the night before or if it was something else, but we simply weren’t ready to compete when the game began,” said Triad head coach Jeff Merklin said. “West Jefferson is an excellent team, well coached, and they will win a lot of games this year. I was happy that starting the second half, we found a little fire, and the girls played hard until the final buzzer.”
