Kameron M. Mathison, 22, of 11754 Township Road 52, Lewistown, was charged with using weapons while intoxicated and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident early Saturday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 4 a.m. to the area of Township Road 217 near the railroad tracks on a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a man slumped over while sitting in the driver’s seat, who appeared to be unconscious. Deputies said the man had his foot on the brake pedal and the vehicle was still in drive. An open container of alcohol also was located in the center console.
Deputies were able to put the vehicle in park and then attempted to wake up the driver, calling out to him several times. Deputies then performed a sternum rub, and the driver began to respond.
While speaking to the driver, identified as Mathison, deputies observed an odor of alcohol on his breath. The defendant told deputies he had three alcoholic drinks prior to driving and declined to participate in field sobriety tests.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered a 9 mm pistol in the center console. Deputies said the pistol’s magazine was loaded, with one round in the chamber.
Mathison was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to participate in a breath test.
