Recently Bellefontaine graduate Kayla Watkins was presented the Chieftain Award as the most outstanding athlete for the 2022-23 school year.
The award is voted on by the varsity coaches.
During her senior year, Watkins earned the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division player of the year award for both golf and bowling.
She set six school records as a senior, three in golf and three in bowling. She also tied another record in golf.
She helped the bowling team set four team records and won league titles with both squads.
During her high school career, she earned eight first-team all-league honors, qualified to the district golf tournament three times and bowled in the state tournament on three occasions.
Watkins graduated with a GPA of 4.49 and will continue her athletic career in the fall at the University of Northwest Ohio, where she will be a member of the women’s golf team.
