Local effort raises money for well in city resident’s hometown

The efforts of a local minister and activist have led to new wells in several towns in his native African nation, but the village where Jean Paul Tiendrebeogo was raised is still without access to clean, easily accessible water.
That should change, however, after a successful Saturday morning fundraiser.
“It’s wonderful to be able to give back to the people in the native village where I grew up,” Mr. Tiendrebeogo said as 90 walkers and runners circled the track at Southview Park to raise the money and awareness.
“It means a whole lot to me because these are my people’s people — the people who raised me. So it is very personal.”
