Village of West Liberty officials extended their gratitude this week to the volunteer first responders who assisted with debris collection and cleanup caused by widespread flooding throughout the village.
Many of the volunteer firefirefighters took at least one day off work from their full-time jobs to assist impacted residents perform clean up work such as pumping out basements, village officials relate.
Council failed to meet quorum Monday for a regular meeting, but discussed flooding and cleanup, expressing appreciation for the work of the fire department, and the collection of citizens volunteers and churches that also organized villagewide work days to clean up property and assist those residents and properties most impacted by storms and high water.
