Velva M. Godwin, 91, of Bellefontaine, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday morning, June 12, 2021, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Velva was born in Kenton, on February 5, 1930, to the late Pearl R. and Frances (Long) Lease. She was also preceded in death by a brother Norman Lease, and a sister Coral Davidson.
Velva married John W. Godwin on July 23, 1954, in Huntsville, and he survives in Bellefontaine. She is also survived by nieces Teri Rich and Pam LeBar, and nephew Gary Davidson.
A 1948 graduate of Belle Center High School, Velva was a homemaker and had worked in various stores over the years as a clerk. She was an avid artist and particularly enjoyed painting on canvas. Velva was a member of Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church.
Pastor Ed Beale will officiate a graveside service for Velva on Friday, June 18, at 11a.m. at the Huntsville Cemetery.
