Ambitious school supply drive under way
With “back-to-school” sales abounding at area stores, United Way of Logan County asks local shoppers to consider picking up an extra item or two to help the agency “Stuff the Bus.”
United Way’s annual school supply drive is under way throughout Logan County with a goal of filling an actual school bus with donations collected at dozens of participating area businesses. Stuff the Bus continues through Monday, Aug. 7.
“Stuff the Bus supplies are like Christmas gifts,” said Valarie Rapp, guidance counselor at Indian Lake Schools, who has seen first hand the impact the supplies have in the hands of students who need them. Items collected during Stuff the Bus are delivered to the board office of each local school district before the start of school so that teachers and students can directly access them as needed throughout the year.
The drive culminates Saturday, Aug. 5, with United Way volunteers collecting outside the Bellefontaine Walmart from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
