Ty G. Oakley, 22, of Bellefontaine, was charged Saturday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for a marked lanes violation, failure to signal, weaving, speeding, having a open container of alcohol in motor vehicle, no operator’s license and driving under suspension.
At 12:45 a.m., he was observed driving a car southbound on Main Street near Iron Avenue at an extremely high rate of speed. He wasclocked at more than 60 mph in the 35-mph zone.
He was weaving in the lane and his car crossed over the center double yellow line near Augusta Lane. He was stopped in the parking lot of Walmart, 2281 S. Main St.
Upon talking with officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department, Oakley volunteered he probably would produce a breathalyzer sample greater than the legal limit.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired and his breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.189.
An open 40-ounce bottle of beer was found in the car.
• Kelvin L. Johnson, 58, of 422 Kent Drive, Apt. 14, was charged Friday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for a stop sign violation and driving under suspension.
Around 12:55 a.m. he was observed failing to stop at Kent Drive and Wright Street.
He was stopped past the intersection.
While approaching the driver’s side, the officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana. He was sluggish and exhibited poor motor movements during his interaction while seated in his vehicle. There was evidence of marijuana usage in the interior of the vehicle.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired by marijuana. He was taken into custody and a urine sample was collected for testing.
