Triad’s boys basketball team got off to a quick start and fended off host Riverside the rest of the game for a 63-50 win Tuesday in local non-league action.
The Cardinals improve their record to 6-10 on the season and the Pirates fall to 4-13.
“I just think that we weren’t ready to play,” said Riverside head coach Seth Bodenmiller. “We came out a little sluggish defensively from the start and Triad got a bunch of easy looks. They had built up a bit of a lead by the half, so we knew that we would have to give much better effort in the second half.
“The third quarter was not very different, but we actually got their lead down to three points in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch, though, we were not able to execute offensively and Triad made a lot of free throws.”
