TAYLOR |
Jonah M. Taylor, 36, of Glouster, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of prescription drugs, having weapons under disability and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle after a 5:25 p.m. traffic stop Friday.
He was in a pickup truck with temporary tags that made a left turn from Columbus Avenue onto Everett Street without using a turn signal.
When an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department asked for his driver’s license and proof of insurance, he reached across the passenger side and opened a glove box. The officer was standing at an open passenger side window and spotted a black handgun in the glove box.
The officer closed the glove box and kept his hand on the door while instructing the motorist to get out of the pickup, walk to the rear of the vehicle and put his hands on the tailgate.
He complied with orders telling the officer he forgot he placed the pistol in the glove box.
Another officer arrived on the scene and searched the vehicle finding drugs and paraphernalia in cigarette boxes inside the pickup and the suspect’s coat.
Paraphernalia included items for smoking crack cocaine, multiple needles, a spoon with burn marks and a straw with white powder residue.
A loaded 9 mm handgun was seized from the glove box.
The suspect was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Around 5 p.m., an officer, who had recently cited her for driving under suspension, observed her yet again driving. She was pulled over in the 100 block of north Main Street.
Based on her reactions during the traffic stop, the officer had her step out of the car and conducted a consent search of the interior. A clear capsule with white and brownish powder was found around the driver’s seat. Another capsule was found in an ash tray.
A field testing kit indicated the capsules contained an amphetamine.
She was lodged in jail.
Drunk men charged
Kristopher L. Jones, 31, of 512 Woodland Drive, was charged Sunday with persistent disorderly conduct.
Officers were called to the home around 9:20 p.m. after Stacy Jones reported her husband was drunk and threatened her brother and mother who also live in the residence.
Police were at the residence four hours earlier to break up a fight between the defendant and his brother-in-law.
As part of the second police response, Mr. Jones was arrested and lodged in jail.

He was found in his room where the entry door was damaged along with a full-length mirror mounted to the interior side of the door. No gun was found in the room nor on the suspect.
Officers noted an odor of marijuana and the suspect told them there was none in the room as it had been stolen earlier.
