A New Year’s Day traffic stop led to the seizure of several pounds of marijuana and trafficking charges against three area men.

Wesley Jones, 19, of Sidney, was charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia while his passenger, Tyler Lett, 19, of Jackson Center, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and corrupting another with drugs.
Barry Pletcher, 24, of 118 Bristol Circle, Russells Point, was charged with felony trafficking in drugs .
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department initiated a traffic stop around 11:10 p.m. Sunday and noticed a strong odor of marijuana when they approached the pickup truck driven by Mr. Jones.
When questioned, he admitted there was marijuana under the passenger seat.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department arrived to assist and a search was conducted of the vehicle. Nearly a pound of marijuana, some cocaine and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle.

There was a juvenile present, but uninvolved in the drug activities, police report. Still, it led the officers to charge Mr. Lett for corrupting another.
Information obtained from the suspects was used to obtain a search warrant for Mr. Pletcher’s residence.
Washington Township and Russell Point officers conducted the search at 2:15 p.m. Monday. A canine unit from Waynesfield Police Department assisted.
Several pounds of marijuana, described by Washington Township Police Chief Rick Core as “a large amount,” was seized along with several thousands of dollars, a handgun, drug paraphernalia, prescription drugs and packaging material
All three men were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
