Bellefontaine’s boys soccer team stayed within striking distance for much of the night, but could not find a way to get the ball into the net against top-seeded Beavercreek in a Division I sectional semifinal Thursday.
The host Beavers led 2-0 at halftime and tacked on two more goals in the second half for a 4-0 victory.
Bellefontaine ends its season with an 8-7-3 record.
“We are really proud of the way we played tonight,” said Bellefontaine head coach Steve Henry. “This is the seventh-ranked team in the state in Division I, and they played like it. They were the best team that we have played all year. But we didn’t back down to their physicality.”
