Bellefontaine Middle School seventh-grader Grant Lotts, left, was named the school’s spelling bee winner Tuesday after he correctly spelled the championship word, “unscrupulous.” This is the second year in a row for Grant to win the BMS Bee. The runner-up was eighth-grader Caydence Stamford, pictured at the right. A total of 50 students from grades 6-8 competed in the competition. Grant and Caydence will advance to the Logan County Spelling Bee in January. Also in January, Grant will take an online spelling and vocabulary test to attempt to qualify for the next level in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. (PHOTO | BELLEFONTAINE SCHOOLS)
