The West Liberty-Salem boys soccer team was unable to find the goal Saturday as it dropped a 4-0 decision to Cincinnati Seven Hills in a Division III district championship game.
The Tigers end their season with an impressive mark of 16-3-1. It was the second-best record in school history.
WL-Salem was making its second district final appearance in three years.
Seven Hills, the eighth-ranked team in the Division III state poll, build a 2-0 lead at halftime and sealed the game with two more goals in the second half.
The Tigers created some scoring opportunities in the second half, hitting the crossbar and side post, but could get get a shot to find the net.
Saturday’s game was the final contest for six WL-Salem seniors. They were part of a program that went 56-14-4 over the last four seasons. That is the best record for any senior class in school history.
Seven Hills advances to play Grandview Heights in the regional semifinal round Wednesday in Xenia.
