West Liberty-Salem’s girls soccer team fought tooth-and-nail against the number-two ranked squad in the state Saturday, but it was not quite enough.
The Tigers fell 2-0 to a talented Cincinnati Country Day team in a Division III district championship game at Lakota East High School.
Paiger Shafer made 12 saves in goal for the Tigers.
WL-Salem ends its season with a 15-3-0 record.
Country Day is now 16-1-2 on the season and advances to play Hamilton Badin in regional semifinal round.
