PITSBURG — After two tournament games, West Liberty-Salem has made it loud and clear it is going to be a tough out in the postseason.
The Tigers, who scored the first 23 points of a 48-16 rout of Triad in the Division III sectional opener Saturday, shot out to a 22-0 lead over Brookville here Tuesday en route to a commanding 61-17 victory at Franklin Monroe High School.
WL-Salem (21-3) faces Northwestern in the sectional final at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Monroe.
The Tigers have won six straight games after a loss to Cedarville on Jan. 28.
“Ever since that Cedarville game the girls have stepped it up a notch,” said WL-Salem head coach Dennis McIntosh. “Everyone knows their roles and everyone is healthy. If we can stay healthy, I feel like we can play with anybody in the tournament.”
