West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team fell short against host Miami East on Saturday in a 47-34 non-league loss.
The Vikings jumped in front 13-5 after the opening quarter. The Tigers had a 13-9 run in the second quarter, but still trailed 22-18 at the break.
Miami East continued to stay one step ahead in the second half. The Vikings outscored the Tigers 12-7 to build a 34-25 advantage. They also outscored the Tigers 13-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Nick Burden paced the Tiger offense with 14 points, Logan Saylor tallied seven points and Owen Johnson had six points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem edged Miami East 43-41. Matthew Jones led the Tigers with 15 points, Andrew Kimball had 10 points and Hayden King had nine points.
WL-Salem hosts Madison Plains on Tuesday for an Ohio Heritage Conference contest.
