Thomas E. “Tom” Alexander, 74, of Cable, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Tom was born July 9, 1947 in Urbana, Ohio, the son of the late Paul M. and Ellen Louise (Craig) Alexander. He graduated from Belle Center High School and in 1970, Tom graduated from Urbana University with a bachelor’s degree in education.
He started his career in Education as a Math & Science teacher at Benjamin Logan High School retiring after serving 30 years of service. He then went to the Champaign County Engineer’s Office where he served as a surveyor technician for 13 years.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hiking and yard work. He raised chickens as a hobby. Tom supported the activities that his children enjoyed especially, raising sheep and goats. He loved taking the grandchildren on tractor rides and fishing as well as sitting around the campfire with his family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Evon Alexander; children, Becky (Randell) Taylor and Tommy (Miranda) Alexander; grandchildren, Peyton and Memphis Taylor and Kashen and Rees Alexander;
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James and Gary Alexander and Virginia (Norman) Martin; brother-in-law, Richard Groves and Bill Rose.
A celebration gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donors’ favorite charity or to the Cable Ball Park Fund, Wayne Township Park Committee, P.O. Box 45, Cable, Ohio 43009.
