Bellefontaine Lions Club members made a special delivery Thursday to the Campbell House to let the residents know they are being remembered this year, especially considering visitor restrictions that have taken place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The service organization members dropped off a number of cheerful balloons, along with “Thinking of You” cards for each of the residents of the 356 Kent Drive facility.
Since visitors are not permitted inside, the gift items were dropped off with staff members at the main entrance.
The project was hosted in conjunction with the statewide Ohio Lions Service Week.
“During the pandemic, the Lions realize that there are still people who need assistance,” representatives said.
This year, the local Lions are celebrating 100 years of service, after joining the Lions International Association in 1920. The Lions are the largest service organization in the world, with more than 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries.
For years, the organization’s primary project was vision, eyeglasses and preventable blindness, but now their efforts have expanded to humanitarian assistance to world needs and disaster responses.
