A local author will share her highly-anticipated sequel to her award-winning book in The Blameless series during a book reading and signing set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at Peachtree Boutique, 136 W. Columbus Ave.
Elisabeth S. Christison meets her fans and community members from 1 to 3 p.m. to share her new middle-grade fantasy book, The Tarnished, the second book of the series. The book reading begins at 2 p.m.
The Tarnished was released Nov. 22. It follows the story of Princess Briana, who has escaped imprisonment and is on the run. Her beloved Predonia is in upheaval as the villainous Vaylec tightens his grip on the Blameless, tearing the kingdom apart in search of the girl who’s evaded him.
To regain her people’s freedom, the princess must turn her back on her friends and her new home as she and her uncles race to uncover the secrets of Vaylec’s mysterious and growing power.
The first book in the series, The Blameless, won the 15th Annual National Indie Excellence Award in Preteen Fiction, Mom’s Choice Awards Gold Seal, Top Choice LitPick Award, Story Monsters Approved Winner in Tween Fiction, and it was a semi-finalist in the Indies Today 2021 Awards.
The local author has worked as a nurse at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine for more than 25 years. Her very first job was as a page at the Champaign County Library. She was raised by her father, who passed his love of reading on to her, especially fantasy.
Christison passed this same love on to her seven children, and as a result, much of her adult life has been spent in the realms of their make-believe kingdoms, seeing firsthand the whimsical workings of their young minds.
She shared her own stories with them at bedtime, but never chose to write them down until the idea for The Blameless series blazed into her mind.
When she isn’t busy navigating the seas of motherhood, working as a nurse, or castle-hopping and enjoying fine wine and chocolate with her husband, she can be found dreaming up other magical tales.
