Donivon J. Smith, 18, of 312 Richard Ave., was charged with discharging firearms, unlawful possession of certain weapons and criminal damaging and taken into custody for violating probation after he allegedly used a BB-gun pistol to shoot at a house around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department met with Tony Robinson at his 541 W. Auburn Ave. residence. He told them he was sitting in the front room of the house when the house was hit with multiple times with BBs. The front window was hit once during the barrage.
Another witness was outside in a parked car and observed a blue car with a red bumper without its headlights was driven by the residence. A rear seat passenger reached out with a BB-gun pistol, yelled at the residence and began firing.
The driver then sped off.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle and stop it on Walker Avenue. Smith was a passenger in the car along with another 18-year-old male and the driver, also an 18-year-old male.
Neither said they were aware of Smith’s intention to shoot at the house.
Smith was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Matthew T. Anderson, 18, of Marysville, was charged Tuesday with felony possession of hashish and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle while Andrew T. Phipps, 17, of Marysville, was charged with delinquency possession of hashish.
A resident at 304 Shady Lane reported a male suspect knocked on the front door. The resident did not know the suspect and did not open the door.
The suspect returned to a black pickup truck and sat inside.
Officers found the teens in the pickup and detected an odor of marijuana upon contact with Andrew who was the passenger.
The occupants acknowledged there was marijuana in the vehicle and a shotgun. The pump shotgun was found unloaded with the bolt open under the bench seat. However, officers noted the open chamber was not visible until the gun was moved and there was a box with live rounds on the dash board.
Behind the driver’s seat, officer found 11 vaping cartridges containing marijuana oil.
Anderson was lodged in jail while Andrew was released to a guardian.
Officers investigate armed burglary
Navin Stanley, 118 W. Auburn Ave., reported Tuesday a male suspect forced his way into Stanley’s room and threatened him with a handgun around 1:30 a.m.
The suspect allegedly fired a round into the ceiling and proceeded to gather items from the residence. Stanley told officer he escaped from a window while the suspect was downstairs stealing the items.
The suspect was gone when officers converged on the residence.
Woman charged for threatening neighbor
Danielle R. Durant, 27, of 850 Bonnie Lane, Apt. 516, was charged Tuesday with menacing. She admitted to sending text messages to the daughter of Julie Annunziato’s boyfriend, stating she was going to punch Annunziato who lives at 850 Bonnie Lane, Apt. 514.
Durant claimed the messages were in jest.
She was issued a summons and warned to have no further contact with the couple or the daughter.
Authorities investigate death
Officers and the Logan County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of Jonathon A. Coulter, 20, of 824 Euclid St., who was found dead by a housemate around 1:20 p.m. Monday.
Tyler McReynolds, 824 Euclid St., and Coulter’s grandmother, Donna Williams, of Bellefontaine, told officers the deceased had a significant history of health issues.
An autopsy was ordered and Coulter’s body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Theft charge issued
Samatha R. Kunze, 28, of 501 Albert St., Apt. A, was charged Monday with theft.
Store security staff at Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., reported Kunze used a 97-cent bar code to self-scan a makeup bag and hair dye product and failed to scan items she place in a tote bag in the cart. In all, she allegedly tried to take more than $230 in merchandise.
