In one of the final acts before a majority of former teachers takes over, the Benjamin Logan Board of Education awarded raises to the district’s superintendent and treasurer.
Following an executive session at the end of Monday’s regular meeting the board moved to clarify the contract of Superintendent Dave Harmon, guaranteeing him 2 percent annual raises beginning in August 2019 and continuing through the end of his contract. The salary and term of the superintendent’s contract were not available this morning.
Treasurer Mandy France will get $2,000 raises each of the next three years, taking her salary from $82,000 this year to $88,000 by 2021.
The raises come at the end of the year that saw the resolution of bitter contract disputes between the teachers union and administration, which resulted in three former teachers running to unseat two incumbent board members and claim a third vacant seat.
