URBANA — An Urbana man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with his mother’s death.
Pamela K. Combs, 66, was found dead inside her 662 Lionel Dr., Urbana, home about 12:05 p.m. Friday, during a welfare check by officers of the Urbana Police Department.
Combs’ son, Robert James “Jamie” Stevenson, 29, who resided with her, was also found inside the home, officers report. He was taken into custody and transported to Urbana Police Division, where he was questioned and arrested for the murder.
Combs’ body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office in Dayton, where an autopsy is expected to be performed this weekend.
The suspect was lodged in the Tri-County Jail and held on $500,000 bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday in Champaign County Municipal Court.
Police did not provide a motive for the crime, or elaborate on how the victim was killed.
Police were assisted by Champaign County Coroner Joshua Richards, Champaign County Prosecutor Kevin Talebi and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Additional charges may be filed against the suspect in the on-going investigation.
