Anna Louden, Logan County Visitors Bureau director, invites you to experience some of the tastiest pizza shops in the county as part of their 2024 Pizza Trail. You can pick up your passport at the bureau office at 100 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, or any of the participating restaurants. (EXAMINER PHOTO | SHARYN KOPF)
“When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie” might be amore. But most of us prefer to have a pizza hit our tastebuds. Pizza hasn’t always been an American favorite, but, now that it is, most of us are fans of that cheesy, saucy pie.
Whether it’s for lunch, a birthday party or your regular Friday night staple for dinner and a movie, pizza is here to stay. With that in mind, the Logan County Visitors Bureau has created the 2024 Pizza Trail.
Similar to their ice cream and coffee trails, this tasty adventure sends participants to 13 mouthwatering stops around the county.
Though the bureau has done the other trails for a few years now, this is their first time with pizza. Actually, for the last two years, they’ve done a pizza bracket to go with March Madness.
“People enjoyed the bracket, but the businesses wanted to switch it to a noncompetitive thing,” Anna Louden, visitors bureau director, said. “So we reached out to every locally owned pizza place in the county.”
Those that responded and wanted to be a part were added to the list.
If you haven’t done a visitors bureau trail yet, here’s the drill:
First, grab a passport. These are available at the bureau office vestibule at 100 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine, which is open 24/7, or at any of the participating restaurants listed below.
Second, and this is the best part, eat pizza. Technically, you don’t have to choose pizza. But go, enjoy, explore and support local businesses! (You will not see any chain restaurants on the list for that reason.) Most of the stops are also offering discounts to their trail adventurers.
Third, submit your passport to the bureau office. If you get six stamps you’ll receive a prize. But show your true adoration for pizza by gathering at least 10 stamps, and you’ll earn an even bigger surprise. You have until the next trail is announced in 2025 to hand in your passport.
“Overall, we hope people we go out, taste all the different offerings, and see what they like. It’s a great way to experience all of our great pizza places in Logan County. And we have a lot compared to anywhere else,” Louden concluded.
