CASTLE |
A 37-year-old Russells Point man was ordered to spend the maximum 10 years in prison for sexually molesting a 9-year-old girl.
Jason J. Castle, 37, who was living at 400 Lincoln Boulevard, Apt. 43, was sentenced Monday by Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor. He had previously pleaded guilty to two thir-degree felony counts of gross sexual imposition that had been reduced from first-degree felony rape charges.
The incidents occurred on two occasions in December 2014 and January 2015.
The victim’s family approved the lesser charges so that the now 10-year-old girl would not have to testify at trial, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Eric Stewart said at the time of the plea.
Judge O’Connor cited the severity of the crime and the impact on the victim when he ordered the two five-year sentences be served back-to-back.
The defendant could be eligible for judicial release in five years but will have to register 25 years as a Tier II sex offender. He was given 333 days credit for time served.
WALBORN |
• Devin Walborn, 20, of Urbana, was sentenced to 60 days in the Logan County Jail for a fourth-degree felony GSI stemming from a July 12 incident in which he attempted to touch a 12-year-old girl at a West Liberty residence.
He was also ordered to complete five years community control and receive sex offender counseling. He must register as a Tier I sex offender for 15 years.
Drug pleas accepted

James M. Florey, 45, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony deception to obtain dangerous drugs charge and a fifth-degree felony identity theft for the Jan. 20, 2015, incident in which he went to local hospital claiming severe back pain.
He reportedly gave a false name and personal information when checking in to the hospital. Authorities were contacted when hospital staff noticed Mr. Florey appeared to be lying about the severity of his condition.
The hospital has requested $3,865 in restitution for the cost of the emergency treatment provided that day.
Sentencing was set for June 6.
