Rushsylvania village leaders learned in the past week they are about to lose their top employee and began Tuesday evening to take the steps to fill the key role.
Mike Hodge, who holds Class I water and wastewater certification licenses for the village, submitted a letter of resignation effective July 22.
He said he is taking a job with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources helping maintain water wells at state parks.
“I’m very sorry and I wish we weren’t losing you,” Mayor Katrina Eversole said when announcing Mr. Hodge’s resignation at the combined village council and Board of Public Affairs meeting. “You’ve been an excellent employee and have gone above and beyond for this village over and over.”
In addition to managing the village’s utilities and holding the difficult-to-obtain licenses required by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Hodge was also responsible for the wide variety of other duties that are involved with keeping the village of about 500 people operating on a day-to-day basis.
