Stephen P. Hostetler, 79, of West Liberty, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead following a non-injury crash Tuesday morning after his sport utility vehicle struck a rural route mail carrier’s SUV.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Mr. Hostetler was operating an SUV on County Road 47 at Township Road 175 about 11:15 a.m. His vehicle reportedly struck the left rear of a mail vehicle that was stopped on the right side of the road and had its strobe light and hazard lights activated.
The rural route mail vehicle was operated by Alisha Taylor, 49, of Bellefontaine. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, deputies said.
