Ross Warren Nelson, Jr., 73, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday evening, May 28, 2019, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Ross was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 21, 1945, to the late Ross and Monell Nenstiel Nelson. He was also preceded in death by a brother Terry Nelson; a sister, Linda Nenninger; and an infant brother, Richard Nelson.
Ross was a 1963 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. After serving his country, Ross returned to Logan County and worked on the railroad for 18 years. Since then, he has been the owner operator of Bristle Ridge Timberframes.
Ross was the original owner of a 1970 Z-28 Camaro and could be found on the weekend at area car shows. He was family oriented and loved the time he spent with his family. Ross was very generous and believed in helping others — often without recognition. He was a regular for breakfast at Bob Evans, and on Saturdays he would be at the Homecoming. He was a member of the Indian Lake and Bellefontaine Moose.
Ross is survived by his wife, Karen Williams Nelson, whom he married March 11, 1972, in Bellefontaine; children, Jonell (David Yohey) Nelson and Ross Christopher (Patricia) Nelson, both of Bellefontaine; a granddaughter, Arielle “Carl” Nelson; siblings, Jane (Perry) Linville of Bellefontaine and Mark (Kathy) Nelson and James “Jim” Nelson, both of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law, Donald Nenninger of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Ruth Anne Nelson of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
