Rosemary L. (Young) LaBatt, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on June 1, 1938, to the late Dalton and Ruth (Walker) Young. On March 4, 1962, she married James A. LaBatt, and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2006. She is also preceded in death by a brother, William Young; sisters: Susan Palik and Margaret Cornely and brothers-in-law: Ed Palik and Henry Cornely.
She is survived by children: Mike (Sheryl) LaBatt of Bellefontaine, Sandy Meyer of Bellefontaine, Renee (Cameron) Cochran-Miller of Florida, Valerie LaBatt of Bellefontaine, and Andrea (Thomas) Stedman of Canal Winchester, Ohio; grandchildren: Aaron (Haley) LaBatt of Bellefontaine, Danielle (Adam) Formichella of Arizona, Christopher Meyer of Bellefontaine, Michelle Meyer of New York, Garrett Cochran of South Carolina, Chase (Victoria Dobis) Cochran of South Carolina, Jacob, Ryan, and Molly Stedman of Canal Winchester; great grandchildren: Quinn LaBatt, Harlow Formichella, Madison McDonnell and Ryder Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special longtime friend, Sally Clowers.
Rosemary was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine for most of her life. She played a lot of roles at the church throughout the years including, singing in the choir, playing in the bell choir, teaching Sunday school, and was the council secretary. She was a teacher’s aide for Bellefontaine City Schools for 39 and a half years and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler will officiate a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
