Rose Leigh Mayberry Baier, 85, of Bellefontaine, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at The Homestead at Logan Acres where she had resided since May 2017.
Born Feb. 5, 1934, in Columbus Grove, she was a daughter of the late Glen Lester and Luella Bowers Mayberry. She was a 1952 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1956 from Ohio Northern University, where she was a member of the Theta Phi Delta sorority.
She married Richard D. Baier on Aug. 4, 1956, in Rockport, and he preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2010. She is survived by a son, James R. (Miriam) Baier of Huntsville; three grandchildren, Braden J. (Breanna) Baier of Huntsville, Brieanne (Corey) Sullivan of Kenton and Brittony (Greg) Leonard of Belle Center; and five greatgrandchildren, Gavin Clay, Samantha Sullivan, Cain Sullivan, Chloe Hodge and Adelia Leonard. A brother, Roger Mayberry, preceded her in death.
She retired from Benjamin Logan School District, where she had taught elementary school in Belle Center during her 30-year career, which also included classes at elementary schools in Bellefontaine and Lakeview. She enjoyed flower gardening, cross stitching and acquiring various collectibles.
She was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center, where calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2.
