Ronald Eugene Deardorff Sr., 83, of Rushsylvania, passed away at 2:57 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Belle Springs Nursing & Rehab in Bellefontaine.
Duffy was born in Ridgeway, Ohio on Dec. 17, 1935, to the late Carman Overly and Hazel Irene Predmore Deardorff.
On Sept. 7, 1955, he married, his wife of 63 years, Sharon Lucas Deardorff in Rushsylvania and she survives, along with their five children, Rhonda Scheffel, Carissa (Chris) Mondon, Angela (Joe) Messner, J.R. (Claudia) Deardorff and Nancy (Dale) Blaylock; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his beloved dachshund. “Tobey.”
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell and Robert.
A member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, Duffy retired as a machinist with Rockwell International following 35 years of service.
He was also a farmer and cattleman who loved golfing and snowmobiling.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Pastor John James officiates a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in Rushsylvania Cemetery in Rushsylvania.
