Rolland L. “Pete” Rodabaugh, age 89, of Mt. Blanchard, died at 6:35am on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Pete was born in Delaware Township in Hancock County on February 7, 1933, to the late Berley and Jesse (Thomas) Rodabaugh. On January 2, 2955, he married Beverly Bowman and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy (Daniel) Riegle of rural Arlington; a son, John R. (Diane) Rodabaugh of Mt. Blanchard and a family adopted son, Jeff (Cheryl) Rodabaugh of rural Arlington. Pete is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jessica (Jon) Alger, Nicole (Jared) Benedict, Shane (Kirsten) Rodabaugh, Morganne (Ian Gillmor), and Malory (Mark Charles). Also surviving are 8 great grandchildren: Edinson, Ehram, Ellison and Eljer Alger, Ava, Norah, and Sutton Benedict and Ella Rodabaugh.
Preceding Pete in death were 4 brothers: Tom, Dean, Ray and an infant brother and a sister, Madge Iams.
Pete was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School and a lifelong member of Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church. Pete was a Korean War Veteran. He was a typesetter at the Republican Courier for many years. Pete was self-employed at J&R Body Shop in Forest, and a school bus driver for Riverdale Schools for over 20 years.
Pete could talk to anyone, enjoyed cutting wood and had a favorite pet, Rudy.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, at Crates Funeral Home in Arlington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 6, at Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Pastor Brett Kelly will officiate and interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
