Rodney “Rod” Eugene Cook, 54, of East Liberty, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, in his home.
He was born in Marysville, on March 25, 1962, a son of the late Nelson Leroy Cook and Carol Coons Cook, who survives in East Liberty.
He is also survived by his wife, Julia Armentrout Cook of East Liberty; a son, Rick (Stacie) Cook of Kenton; a stepson, Chad (Jennifer) Stratton of Florida; a stepdaughter, Nicole (Rob) Erwin of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Teresa (Tim) Rausch of West Mansfield; three brothers, Terry (Rhonda) Cook and Dave (Margie) Cook, both of East Liberty, and John (Jennifer) Cook of Marysville, a sister-in-law, Diana Coons of West Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father who passed away in 2003, Rod was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Coons in 2011.
Rod owned and operated Rod Cook Construction and just enjoyed working with his hands and building things. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, and loved his church family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom picking and just being outdoors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, whether it was hanging out with his grandkids or enjoying a walk with his wife.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Ave., Bellefontaine. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, the Logan County Cancer Society, and Loving Care Hospice.
