Robert Eugene Brown, 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 15, 2020, at Campbell Place.
Bob was born in West Mansfield on April 15, 1933, to the late Lowell F. and Romaine (Branson) Brown. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Violetta Brown, and brothers-in-law Tom Elliott and Jack LeVan.
Bob married the former Marlene Jeanette LeVan on June 15, 1956, in Zanesfield, and she survives in Bellefontaine. He is also survived by daughter Brenda (Jon) Williams of Zanesfield, and son Perry (Debora) Brown of Zanesfield; four grandchildren: Tracy (Edward) Cline, Niki Williams, Robert Nathan Brown, and Matthew Stockton; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; two brothers: Donald “Butch” (Peggy) Brown, and Roger (Nada) Brown, both of Bellefontaine; three sisters: Marilyn Elliott, Mona (Bud) Eichholtz, and Lylia (Lyle) Barger, all of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a US Army veteran during the Korean War era. Following his honorable discharge, Bob worked at Springfield Hospital, and then went to work at Mary Rutan Hospital as a laboratory technician. Following that, he was hired by the Logan County Health Department as Health Inspector. He retired from the health department and went back to work in the lab at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was a member of the East Liberty Masonic Lodge #247 and Dayton AASR – Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Bob also was a member of the Zanesfield American Legion, a lifetime member of the Ohio Environmental Health Association, and member of the Zanesfield Town Council for several years. For many years, Bob worked the chains for Benjamin Logan football games, and was inducted into the Benjamin Logan Hall of Fame in 2013.
Due to the current pandemic orders, the family will have a private graveside service at Zanesfield Cemetery. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers, they plan to have a celebration of Bob’s life in the spring.
