Robert Douglas “Doug” Neely, 73, of Russells Point, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 10, 2017, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Doug was born on July 13, 1943, in Anderson, Ind., to the late Virgil D. and Frances Rose “Jackie” Theile Neely. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Neely Myers in 2014; a daughter-in-law, Amy Kay Fishbaugh Neely; and a son-in-law, Roger Myers.
On Dec. 29, 1967, he married Judith Anne Clatterbuck in Massillon and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert D. Neely II of Russells Point; and two grandsons, Hayden Douglas Neely and Kyler J. Tarkington.
Doug was a 1961 graduate of Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Indian Lake Galilee Lutheran Church and Indian Lake Fish and Game Club, both in Russells Point, a life member of both the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. Doug was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed fishing, watching Sprint car racing, sport shooting and boating. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Pastor Karen Torrez officiates a celebration of life service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at Galilee Lutheran Church, 301 Lincoln Blvd., Russells Point.
Memorial contributions may be given in his name to Galilee Lutheran Church, American Heart Association and St. Rita’s Hospice.
