Robert C. “Bob” Gietzen, 86, of West Liberty passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at Green Hills Community.
Bob was born Nov. 5, 1934 in Center Line, Mich., to the late Cletus Peter and Alice Eloise (Defour) Gietzen. On June 30, 1956 in Center Line, Mich., he married Johanna Leonore “Lori” Birko.
In 1953. Bob began his working career with Bull Dog Electric, Detroit. Moved to Bellefontaine in 1969 to finish his 41 year career with Siemens. Bob was well known for his immaculate flower gardens and yard. He took many memorable vacations with Lori and made many new friends on their bus tours and he never met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.
The Gietzen Family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses from Green Hills and Mary Rutan for the kindness and care Bob received.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Lori Gietzen; children, Timothy (Gyla) Gietzen, Judy (Jeff) Lamb both of Bellefontaine, Todd (Sharyn) Gietzen of North Carolina; grandkids, Jennifer (Eric) Swaisgood, Tye (Sarah) Gietzen, Julie (Jonny) Cronkleton, Sierra (Ethan Snapp) Gietzen, Drew (Katelyn Bolender) Gietzen, Adam Gietzen and Emily Gietzen; great grandkids, Emery, Oliver, Avery, Jonathan, Joannah and Mason; sister-in-law Patricia Gietzen and brother-in-law George Goike.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Cemetery following Mass. For those attending the services, masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
