Riverside High School students Joel Wren and Lauren Montgomery each received their State FFA Degrees during the state convention in May.
This is the highest award given out by the Ohio FFA Association and it is presented to the top 3 percent of the 25,000 FFA students in Ohio.
In addition, Lauren received Gold Officer Award for her secretary’s book and the Chapter Recognition Award from Children’s Hospital.
Fellow Riverside student Raven Shoffner received a Gold Officer Award for his treasurer’s book. Kaleb Strayer also accepted a Chapter Award from CROP.
A total of 11 members of the Riverside/Ohio Hi-Point Career Center FFA Chapter attended the annual convention.
En route to the convention, the FFA students toured Just Enuff Genetics hog facility in DeGraff to learn about quality traits desired in hogs and how genetics are important to the industry. FFA members also toured Davidson Dairy Farm in Quincy, where students learned about the dairy industry, including how cows are maintained and milked by using robotic milkers.
