“The distance between your dream and reality is action. It is your time to act.” ~Riverside High School Principal Kelly Kauffman
With these inspiring words, Riverside High School in DeGraff sent its 52 graduates into their future. The graduation ceremony took place in the school gymnasium Friday night, May 13, 2022.
Following the invocation from Pastor Michael Mitchell, DeGraff United Methodist Church, and music from the high school choir, Principal Kauffman gave a short word of encouragement. She then introduced the salutatorian, Allison Buchenroth, and valedictorian Chase Davidson.
Buchenroth, who plans to study accounting at Clark State, spoke first. “What will others write about us?” she asked. “And what will we be known for?”
“I have witnessed the immensely powerful impact of my school,” Davidson, a future political science student at American University in Washington D.C., said. “We have been given a chance to live a life worth living.”
He concluded, “My biggest hope … is that no matter where we are or what we are doing, we will have a positive impact.”
After receiving their diplomas, the graduates headed outside for the traditional tossing of the hats and to greet members of the community.
